Hyperopia - "Farsightedness"

Hyperopia is a medical term for those who are unable to see objects up close, but can see objects far away.

Hyperopia is common, however to some degree individuals can have this condition without even knowing it. It usually occurs to those who have focusing problems, and almost half the people who wear glasses have a harder time with this. It is natural for individuals to have this decreased ability to focus as it slowly appears with age.

This condition occurs when the eye ball is too short or the corner is not as curved. It can occur from environmental factors or be hereditary.

Hyperopia may not need full time correction with prescription eyeglasses, but only when in need of focusing up close work such as the computer, reading, or small detail work.

Some symptoms and sign include: eye strain, fatigue, headaches after close up work, burning eyes, tension.
